Through the most recent couple of decades, many energy fields have come into existent in the environment around us. Some originate from electrical cables, others are discharged from cellphone towers as 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. And others radiate from Wi-Fi hotspots and the high-frequency WiMax.
The energies produced from all these devices are effecting our human bodies in a harmful way. Some examination proposes that the fields are known as electromagnetic radiation (EMR) or electromagnetic fields (EMF) interrupt our body’s natural processes— even harming our DNA.
A couple of years back, in 2012 a team of scientists and health experts released a report providing people with details on these various EMF affecting our health.
This report knows as The BioInitiative Report is a report on the relationship between the electromagnetic fields (EMF) associated with power lines and wireless devices and health. The Bio Initiative 2012 Report has been prepared by 29 authors from ten countries who hold medical degrees, Ph.D.’s, etc.
The initiative was started by Dr. Martin Blank, Ph.D., from the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Colombia University, who has joined a group of scientists from around the world making an international appeal to the United Nations regarding the dangers associated with the use of various electromagnetic emitting devices, like cells phones and WiFi. He has been studying the interaction of low-frequency EM fields with cells at both the cellular and molecular levels.
The conclusion is that we need to reduce our exposure to these EMF radiations.
Not all things are known yet about this subject; but rather what is clear is that the current public safety standards limiting these radiation levels in almost every nation of the world appear to be very lenient, states the report. On the other hand, a group of other scientists states that these radiations cause no harm to people and suggest that EMFs are safe.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has been exploring the two sides. In 2011, the WHO’s International Association for Research on Cancer (IARC) characterized EMF radiation over the radio frequency range (RF-EMF) as a Class 2B cancer-causing agent, which implies it might cause cancer, however, additional research is important and necessary.
Despite findings showing evidence of effects caused by EMF, the U.S. public health officials have been very careful/cautious in their statements about EMF exposure. But in countries like the UK, Russia, France, Israel, India, and other countries, governments are taking EMF exposure more seriously.
Even though the current international consensus on this subject is still under study, cancer can take many years, even decades, to develop. Population studies so far have only monitored the health effects following a few years of mobile phone use. Hence taking precautions to reduce your exposure to EMF radiation is highly recommended.
